A SENSE OF PLACE
The Retreat on Lake Pend Oreille is yours alone. No other guests, no shared spaces, no one else's agenda.
With 400 feet of lakeside frontage and nothing but water and the Selkirk Mountains in sight, The Retreat offers complete privacy for corporate retreats, weddings, family gatherings, and milestone celebrations.
Several distinct buildings and outdoor spaces give individuals and small groups room to find their own corner. The fire pits, the beach, the lakeview deck, and every gathering space are reserved exclusively for your guests. Here, the only schedule is your own.
EXPLORE THE RETREAT
A Storied HISTORY
This was the former compound and home of Dr. Forrest Bird, an aviator and inventor. Steve and Terry Thorp were his neighbors and friends. When the opportunity arose to purchase the property from his estate, they didn't hesitate. It is a place they love and a legacy worth honoring. They renovated it carefully, preserving its character while creating something the lake didn't yet have: a private retreat for people who want to gather, think, and be in a place with a storied history.
